I am an ex-IT engineer by profession with 10 years of international experience in different countries across 3 continents. I worked in different industry verticals including OEM (Electronics) , automotive, finance, water, chemicals and agrobusiness. I have worked in different roles; as an engineer, technology architect, IT project manager and IT service manager.
The one thing common in all these roles was Microsoft Excel. MS Excel helped me a lot to perform my activities and complete my deliverables. Organizing daily/weekly tasks, project plans, project go-live plans, knowledge transfer plans, to create IT service dashboards and so on. I think Excel and do Excel. Everything I do; daily tasks, projects, my badminton club management, short and long term planning; all are supported by Excel.
I have worked and traveled as a volunteer in Europe for various projects; farms to bed and breakfast to spiritual retreats and even helping families. As a professional or as a volunteer, I learned that it is the attitude towards helping others that comes first rather than your technical skills. Delivering technically is important, but still only a part of the overall service. The key difference comes from understanding your customer, their needs and requirements.
I focus on customer understanding, communication, aligned goals and deliverables, planning and documentation. Life long learner and always ready to take on new challenges with a problem solving attitude.
