A semi-retired world traveler, I have recently taken a break from exploring the mosques of Istanbul, the coral reefs of Thailand, and the deserts of North Africa to settle on the beautiful Vancouver Island of Canada. Now I work to complete my Bachelor's of English with a minor in Spanish at the University of Victoria, working freelance to pay my way. I am currently in my fourth year.
As far as academic writing goes, I have excelled in my classes and have won multiple awards. I have earned a very high capability writing research and personal essays, proposals, reviews, and editing as well. I have attained and employed the ability to research a variety of topics across an array of databases and platforms, and use it in relevant, interesting pieces.
Last summer until this January I worked on a contract with a local company to help launch their exciting new food, lifestyle, and culture website. Included on this website was their product descriptions, subscription box page, and blogs, all of which I created. I also edited the recipe creator's recipes for publication, and wrote all marketing content, e-mails, and blurbs. This was an enriching experience as I increased my skills in marketing strategies, and was able to explore the island, finding interesting stories to cover on our blogs. I researched and wrote on an array of topics, helping to establish the website's own personal brand.
Besides this experience I have ghostwritten various pieces for different food, culture, and eCommerce blogs, as well as individualized marketing content. Personally, I adore writing travel and culture pieces, and would be especially excited at any prospects in this field.
