I started my career in sales and marketing almost by accident. Fresh out of school, I was hired by a small electronics shop to help increase walk-in customers. At first, I had no idea how to pitch products. I remember my very first day—I approached a customer, tried to talk about a phone, and completely blanked out. I felt embarrassed, but I realized that every mistake was a lesson. Slowly, I learned that listening to people was far more powerful than memorizing product features.
A turning point came when I suggested we use social media to promote the shop. The owner was skeptical at first, but I created a simple Instagram account, posted clean product photos, added short catchy captions, and engaged with followers. Within three months, we were getting customers walking in saying, “I saw this on your Instagram!” That feeling of connecting online and driving real sales was my first real win as a social media manager.
