After my PhD in mathematics in 2008 in Heidelberg, Germany, I started my professional career at Zeiss SMT as an Optical Design engineer. In 2009 I left Zeiss and joined Schmidt & Bender as an Optical Design Engineer. After two award winning optical designs (scopes winning public contracts) I moved on internally and became Head of Optical Development in January 2011. In this position I established the idea of integral development, bringing together optics and mechanics in closely cooperating teams.

In August 2008, I took over the Research and Development Department. In this position I was responsible for an increasing number of team members and additionally managed several national and international as well as interdisciplinary projects. Also, my development skills increased further, including mechanical engineering of several products.

In addition to this position, I was Assistant to the Management from end of 2009 to 2016, taking over different projects from other Departements in which I could use my mathematical skills: Product management, press releases, sales figure analysis, forecasts, process analysis and optimization and many other projects.

I left the company in March 2016 and became a freelancer for optical consulting, offering various services for the industry:

- Optical Design
- Optical engineering of complete products
- Project support
- Optimizing of technical processes
- Mathematical modelling and statistics
