Professional illustrator with graphic design background

Hello, my name is Dragan and I’m a freelance illustrator based in Croatia. After I got my master degree in Applied Graphics I worked as a graphic designer, mostly in the culture and educational domain, as a poster artist and illustrator. After several larger illustration projects I decided to completely switch to illustration which now I do full time.

Beside being an art enthusiast, I find most of inspiration in exploring nature and reading books – everything from classics to illustrated adventures for young adults and children.

Work Terms

I prefer to work on fixed pay and communicate by email as often as we need (mostly daily or on work progress). E mail communication is preferred because i live in Croatia which is Central European time (CET).

My process is divided in these phases:
1. rough sketches (min 3-5)
2. final line sketch
3. rough color/value sketch
4. final artwork

Each stage begins after approval and of previous one.

In case of book cover, poster or children's illustration I can additionally offer my graphic design skills, because in these works illustration and design are so connected and they depend on each other.

I don't do graphic design without illustration as it is not my primary job anymore.
I don't do full service (web design, print design, branding, all styles of illustration, video and photography) art magic type of jobs because I don't believe that one person can have proficiency in all things at once. That is type of job agencies do, and they have teams of specialist. I only do graphic design for specific projects to support my illustration and because I'm trained at it.
