I’m a creative professional who’s worked in a broad variety of markets where I’ve been able to apply my key strengths (creative problem solving, communications, leadership) to achieve or exceed sales and marketing goals.
• I am a problem solver. Previous employers have hired me to improve their product development, establish art departments, grow market share, give them a competitive edge, and I deliver.
• I am a skilled communicator (and listener). I was often called on by Sales Directors to accompany them on Sales calls to Walmart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and Target, to provide design support. I instituted brainstorming sessions with the buyers from ReaderLink, the largest distributer of book and video products in the Mass and Club channels in order to gain insight into what they wanted in their planograms.
• I am a great motivational leader. At Positive Promotions, Inc. I took charge of editorial and design teams that were locked into an adversarial relationship and brought them together, so in less than a year the groups formed mixed basketball teams that shot hoops twice a week after work.
• When American Greetings sold their Learning Horizons division I was offered a lucrative contract from the new owners to go with the sale (None of our 3 licensing partners—Nickelodeon, Sesame WorkShop, and Leaprfrog would transfer the rights to the new owners unless I stayed on in charge of creative). My entire creative team chose to follow me to the new company even though they were not offered contracts to make the move.
• I established Beachcombers Coastal Life as a legitimate coastal themed Home Décor wholesaler in 6 months, delivering 250 new SKU’s of higher price point home décor products with retails of $50-$450.
• At Positive Promotions, I created a unique storage bag solution for the healthcare market that sold 1M units the first year it was brought to market. The company ultimately filed a patent on my design (Patent granted in 2019).
Work Terms
Rates are negotiable. I am comfortable with both hourly rates ($25—$50/hr. depending on complexity) or flat fees/project fees.
