I have had a passion for design for as long as I can remember. Graphic design became a hobby of mine when my parents bought the first Apple II with PrintShop installed. During the long winter months in South Dakota, where I grew up, I would sit at that white box in the kitchen and design enough birthday cards and garage sale signs to last my family (and the family next door) the entire year!
Eventually, I went to college to study the visual arts, architecture specifically, but upon graduating, found myself caught up in a then-burgeoning real estate market, which I remained in for the next 15 years. Graphic design remains, for me, an inherent talent that I have utilized quite a bit, no matter the professional hat I may be donning, however, as a real estate agent, I used it all the time to create customized listing presentations, open house flyers, newsletters and I have even worked with local print shops (actual ones) to create stationery for businesses and weddings. I have broadened my skill set to include digital media and website design and am working on my digital portfolio to add to my Guru.com profile.
