Never stop learning and growing as a professional and a person

I’ve been in this world or improving human performance for over a decade now, but it all happened by accident. I started my career doing QA and defect management for an early eBook publisher. That transitioned to a Tech Writing / Document Specialist position at Southwest Research Institute in the Training, Simulation, and Performance Improvement division. At the time they were hand coding eLearning modules, so when they learned about my background, they started using me to help develop and QA eLearning. It was an amazing on-the-job learning experience, and I was hooked. Here is something where I could use my technical skills, creativity, and academic background to create something with an impact. Eventually I decided to go back to school and get a degree in Education Technology as I wanted a stronger foundation so I could make a bigger impact; after all, I only succeed in my role if the learner succeeds in theirs. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to put my skills and knowledge to use in academic, military, and corporate settings working as an instructional designer, LMS administrator, and an eLearning developer.
