Katsi Miranda-Lozada was born and raised in Philadelphia in an area referred to as “The Bad Lands”. Her mother, Maribel Lozada, did her best to make sure that she stayed active by enrolling her in as many dance and craft classes as possible in the community.
Even though the area she grew up in wasn’t ideal, it was home. It taught her tolerance, acceptance, patience, and most of all appreciation for different cultures and ethnicity's.
Like most children, Katsi was also in love with the idea of being a visual artist. She dabbled with various mediums as she explains, “it wasn’t until I picked up a paint brush that I made that connection from my heart to the outside world.” It was only natural that she would paint what was important and meaningful to her.
Each one of Katsi’s pieces is inspired by her love of color, culture, emotions and most importantly her life experiences. Every stroke made with passion and certainty that culminates to create an image of beauty left to relish
