Lahiru Madushanka Senevirathna is a Film Editor and Colourist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was born in 1993 in North-Western Province. Lahiru began his film studies while working at TV Derana as an editor. He completed the Higher National Diploma in Film and Television at Sri Lanka Foundation Digital Film Academy specializing in Editing and Sound Designing. After graduation, he received a scholarship to take part in the International Class of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, one of the prestigious film schools in Germany. Lahiru was able to contribute to several international film projects during his stay in the film school. In 2019, he was invited to the Clinik Kathmandu Documentary Film Lab in Nepal. Since 2021 Lahiru has been studying for a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Technology offered by Kingston University, UK.
At the moment Lahiru is working as a freelance Editor and Colourist. His first edited feature film “Free by Noon” which was produced in the USA was released in Los Angeles, California. He has credits on more than 10 Sri Lankan feature films, many as the Online Editor and the rest as Assistant Editor. He was also the Editor and the Postproduction Coordinator for the 2019 American short film “Breaking Cycles”. Lahiru is currently assisting for feature films edited by “Ravindra Guruge” who’s considered to be the most experienced Film Editor in Sri Lanka. He is also providing his assistance for one of the leading colourists in the country “Dinindu Jagoda”.
Furthermore, Lahiru was among the nominees for Best Editor and Best Sound Designer at the 3rd Colombo International Student Film Festival 2017.
