I’m fascinated by communication, seeing the endless opportunities of telling stories and ability to impact society positively as well drive attention to a brand.

I grew up as a ‘reading girl’. In our family, I was known for picking up the newspaper that had wrapped meat to read, something that my mother noticed and made effort to buy me Sunday Nation so that I could read the Young Nation as often as she could manage. This instilled in me a burning desire to read, one that has now lead to a vibrant career in communication.
However, I started a career in communication only armed with passion and conviction that I could handle the job. I did not start out as a communicator; I initially joined college to study Cartography. This is the career that my parents paid for and I am forever grateful, for they gave me a chance to be exposed. I struggled with studies, appreciating that although I had performed fairly well in sciences, I excelled in arts. I realized I couldn’t remain in the field after my internship in an engineering company dealing with road construction.
I took my first job as a support staff in a special education center, purely driven by the desire to earn income. However, shortly after I settled in, I allowed my gifting to start to develop, achieving a first, of planning the first trip to the National Museum of Kenya and Traffic Park for the special needs children. This was no mean achievement considering children with autism, mental retardation and other challenges have unique needs that demands patience and knowledge. I had very little knowledge of mental conditions and I took the opportunity to read, research and wrote my first article on down syndrome a few months after which was published on an online magazine Szirine. That article was the first step towards a career in communication. Encouraged by being published, I developed the habit of writing both fiction and features stories on various mental conditions. I had to search for opportunities where I could have the articles published and this allowed my growth in communication and ability to tell stories about causes that I was involved in.

Work Terms

Deadline based assignment with a reasonable lead time in view of different time zones. I prefer communication via emails in simple English. Payment is dependent on the agreement we have.
