Maria João Almeida is a videographer and a cinema producer from Porto, Portugal.
She has a degree in Sound and Image from the School of Arts of the Portuguese Catholic University. Maria João has worked as First Assistant Director in "Artur" by Flávio Pires (2011, winner, Take One! prize at Curtas Vila do Conde), as Assistant Director in "A Rua da Estrada" by Graça Castanheira (2012, winner, Best Short - Documentary, at Arquitecturas Film Festival Lisboa), and as Producer of "Noite" by Flávio Pires (2012, winner, Best National Short Film at Córtex Festival, Sintra. Now on sale in DVD).
She participated in several masterclasses with names like João Canijo, João Braz, Thom Andersen, Edward Lachman (ASC) and Richard Raskin.
Maria João is also developing promotional and institutional videos at MJA Media in collaboration with Mafalda Castelo-Branco and other creatives.

Work Terms

I am a creative person and very organized, and love what I do. Respecting deadlines and the main ideas of the clients are two vectors I take seriously at work. I prefer to use e-mail (and Skype, if necessary), to communicate. Videos are sent by e-mail in which the client can follow and be part of the creative process until the video is finished. I have an paypal account for the payments, which are 70% of the total is paid by the beginning and the 30% in the final. If you do not agree, please let me know, together we can find a good solution for both sides.
