In 2012 I graduated from the University of Maryland with a PhD in Public Policy. My concentration was Management, Finance, and Leadership. During my time at Maryland from 2007-2010, I served as an appointed member of the research faculty. In this role I researched innovative ways to reform the federal acquisition and contracting process with a focus shortening time to delivery of enhanced capabilities, reducing costs, and improving performance. While writing my dissertation in 2010, I transitioned to IBM working as a Strategy & Innovation Consultant. In this role, I Acted as a Solution Architect, Business Analyst, and Acquisition Analyst serving the United States Department of Defense (DoD). In 2013, I began a 7 year career at MITRE a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) established to advance national security in new ways and serve the public interest as an independent adviser. While at MITRE I served as a Program Management/Acquisition Lead and ultimately was promoted to Principal. In these roles, I was a trusted SME providing guidance and business advice on all aspects of program execution, contract management, business strategy development, planning, and risk mitigation. Moreover, in my last project at MITRE, I led the effort to stand up the business office to include contracting and acquisition at DoD’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) during its first year of operations. Upon leaving MITRE in 2020, I became the Public Sector Strategy & Capture Director at AI Start-up DataRobot. In this role, I led business opportunity identification & qualification; partnerships and teaming across the division; authored proposals, generated technical & business requirements; executed contractual delivery upon award; developed, deployed, supported, and maintained a novel “Bid & Proposal Factory"; guided market & business intelligence; and created & delivered training across a range of topics including business fundamentals, bid & proposal strategy, acquisition 101 and contracting 101 for AI/ML and related technologies. Upon leaving DataRobot in 2001, I founded my own consulting company, The Acquisition Innovation Group. In this capacity, I led business growth and strategy development in the AI/ML field and other emerging technologies for start-ups, mid-sized, and large world-class companies; helped to develop and deliver against organizational mission, goals, objectives and metrics; generated revenue pipelines; engaged in direct customer facing sales support; identified & pre-qualified business opportunities in AI/ML and related technologies; Provided introductions and negotiations with potential teaming partners from industry and academia; lead authorship of NDAs, non-competes, teaming agreements, work distribution attachments, joint ventures, joint proposals, and other supporting contractual documentation; Led marketing, communications, and social media strategy focused on my customers to build brand awareness in the market.
Work Terms
My work terms are as follows:
- Hours of operation are flexible, I am on AZ time.
- I would prefer to be paid every two weeks.
- I am happy to communicate via whatever method is most convenient for the client.
