I'm a US native living in Germany and I'm a veteran with engineering, scientific programming, biotechnology, molecular biology, and scientific project management as well as technical and scientific writing.

My degree is in Molecular Biotechnology including bio- and organic chemistry, cell biology, scientific engineering, and bio-computational engineering. I've designed and operated specialized bioreactors as well as having extensive systems engineering experience with Linux, OSX, and Windows.

I have almost 2 decades of scripting and module development using languages such as Python, C#, OOPerl and shell - and have held project leadership and research roles for companies such as Northrop-Grumman Mission Systems, University of California Center for the study of RNA, and Mentor Graphics. I have "at the bench" time with the Jurica research lab, UCSC where I did genetic insert design, cloning and bioreactor engineering.

Work Terms

HOURLY
If hourly, actual hours worked will be rounded to the nearest one-sixth of an hour and entered manually in the timesheet provided by Elance. If requested prior to time worked, time-tracking reports will be provided using the tools of Contractor's choice. Invoices are expected to be paid weekly.

FIXED-FEE
If fixed-fee (milestone), Elance escrow services will be used. Milestones will be funded prior to that milestone's work beginning. Client will approve or request changes to work within 1 week of milestone completion. Funds are expected to be released within one working day after approving work.

YOUR PROTECTION
Review sessions between Contractor and Client will be performed each week to ensure satisfactory work quality. If after any review session, either Contractor or Client decides for any reason that the project is not proceeding properly and a resolution cannot be agreed upon, the project can be canceled by either party. In this event all previously created Deliverable(s) will be delivered to Client, payment for all work completed will be invoiced and paid, and the contract ended.

INDEPENDENCE
Contractor is an independent contractor and is not an employee of Client.

Contractor and Deliverable(s) are in no way governed by the laws of, or considered to reflect the intent of the terms and clauses commonly associated with, “work for hire”.

Contractor has the right to perform services for other clients during the term of the contract.
