About

Recent college graduate with a strong background in academic writing, creative content writing, and editing/proofreading.

I am new to Guru, but I have been editing and writing off and on for four years. I have earned a B.A. in English at Governors State University as of May 2015.

During my time at the university, I completed the following:

- An internship to promote and market a writing program called Writing Across the Curriculum. Through the internship, I created a new blog and generated the content in the form of blog posts and interviews. I wrote two newspaper articles to promote the program, and edited existing content before publishing on the blog.

- Worked as a TA in the Writing Fellows Program, where I assisted professors with writing assignments in an undergraduate senior level literature course and a graduate level nursing research course. I evaluated, lightly edited, and critiqued the content of each student paper.

- Became an editorial board member for GSU's literary and visual arts journal. In spring of 2015, i functioned as the president and editor-in-chief of the journal. My duties included choosing submissions, performing light edits on submissions, choosing the layout, formatting (using Adobe InDesign), and publishing the print issue, as well as promoting the journal through fundraising events.

I also interned for a small press publishing company called Weaving Dreams Publishing in 2012 as an editorial and administrative intern. I assisted with book launches, communication between authors and the publisher, manuscript and proposal evaluation and critique, contacted newspapers and magazines to distribute ARC copies of upcoming books and obtain reviews, and created publicity releases.
