My professional experience over the previous 10+ years has always varied with the companies I have worked with, however over the past 5 years of my career, I have been more focused on the leadership aspect of a procurement organization. In 2006, when starting my career, I had little knowledge that it would take all kinds of twists and turns. However, the years with GE (Genpact) and later with companies like Allianz Insurance & EY Global Services, has taught me more about various aspects of supply chain. The first and foremost "Almost every pricing is justified with the right service". The world of procurement and sourcing has been termed a more clerical one over the past decade. But things are changing, and now many corporations realize the need for skilled Procurement professionals in their roster, because the impact of procurement in this current digital age is directly to the working capital of every company. Most of the time through my career, I was sourcing products and services, which of course includes an extensive stint at Red-Orange sourcing and handling freight expedition for IT hardware to the war torn regions in Afghanistan and Iraq supporting the allied troops. Though I wasn't working out of an army base however, it was exciting to know more of the logistics side too during this period. The Big 4 in 2013 was a difference, something that happened to me just before I learned something very valuable in my career. IT procurement, being the lead for software sourcing globally, for a company with presence in a 143 companies was never a joke. I had a great team to support me during this tenure which involved negotiations with lawyers and account managers from across all sources. Software being the portfolio, as I would call it now, which have seen a huge growth in procurement organizations across the globe and it was no different in EY .
Work Terms
I am currently available full time since I am new on a freelancer mode. However I would be concentrating on taking only one job at a time to have a work life balance as well as focused service.
