Tibor Molnar

Tibor Molnár graduated from the Art High School in Târgu Mureș in 1994, winning many national competitions and performing as a soloist with the Târgu Mureș Philharmonic Orchestra from childhood. He also attended masterclasses for three years with Professor Perényi Eszter in Hungary.

In 1994, he became a founding member of the “Tiberius” Quartet, which, since 2008, has become the State Quartet of the Târgu Mureș Philharmonic, under the mentorship of Devich Sándor from the Bartók Quartet. Supported by Stefan Metz, the “Tiberius” Quartet won the “Erste Wiener Klassik Preis” in Vienna, took part in masterclasses with the Amadeus, Bartók, and Alban Berg Quartets, and received a full scholarship at the “Academy of String Quartets” in Amsterdam. With this quartet, he has toured throughout Europe, and violist Jerry Horner promoted the ensemble in the USA and Canada.

Tibor has been awarded the “Excellence Prize” by the Municipality of Târgu Mureș and is also the composer of the rock opera Cruel. He is the founder and organizer of the “Tiberius” International Chamber Music Festival, now in its 18th edition.

In 2025, he completed his doctoral studies at the “George Enescu” University of Arts in Iași.
