programmer & software architect
My name is Pedro Figueiredo, I am originally from Lisbon, Portugal, where I was born on September 12th 1977. I’ve been coding ever since I hacked my way through the Linux kernel, back in1992. I attended Computer Science classes at FCUL, in Lisbon, with a focus on knowledge methodologies and artificial intelligence, degree that saw through the 4th and last year but never got to finish.
While I was attending classes at FCUL, I started tutoring private classes in mathematics, physics and chemistry and Microsoft courses for end-users.
In 1999, I began collaborating with ADETTI, a research institute that operates under the ISCTE University, and started my journey into artificial intelligence research and affective computing.
In 2004, I accepted the challenge of the private sector and began collaborating with Accedo, a digital marketing web-boutique, where I got to head of development. When Accedo spun-off an idea to create a tool for customizing Facebook marketing campaign apps, named Redpanda, I took the position of CTO there. Unfortunately, since it was government funded, the project didn’t survive the austerity policies and was shut down.
In May 2014 I began working as an independent contractor / freelancer.
In October 2014, I received an invitation from a Lisbon based IoT start-up called Muzzley to begin working in their vision for the smart-home, researching and implementing a machine learning and user behavioural analysis system that allows smarter and more ubiquitous interaction between the user and the day-to-day connected devices.
In October 2016, I decided to return to independent consulting / freelancing, mainly focused on machine-learning, data processing, scalability patterns, real-time applications and code efficiency for embedded systems.
I go by the coder name of n@zgul (naazgull).
