I’m an engineer at heart. No matter where I sit inside our team my core engineer will always help propel us forward. It’s cliché but leadership has always come naturally to me. Prior to my introduction to software development, I held roles like General Manager of a Little Caesars and Manager at OfficeMax.
Both of these roles came at a relatively young age to most in those fields. It may seem odd to talk about those roles but it’s an important part of what has helped mold my style. Getting down in the weeds with the team has always been the cornerstone of coaching and leading my teams.
