I am a writer, columnist, freelance journalist, and poet based in Bengaluru. And I can help with creative writing projects across various fields.
My name is Sourabha Rao, a writer and poet from Mysuru, currently living in Bengaluru.
After graduating as a Computer Science Engineer, I worked in the IT industry for 19 months. But I personally found no purpose in it and always knew writing was my calling.
I became a Content Writer for the ‘books’ category at Flipkart in 2014. Since 2015, I’ve been the Staff Writer at India’s leading travel-and-photography company, Toehold. I’ve worked on many national and international projects, including a documentary on sugarcane farmers in India, for IFC of the World Bank. I have collaborated with the creator of the renowned Zen Pencils comics, being the first one to translate them into an Indian language (Kannada).
I’m also a columnist at TheState.News. As a freelance journalist who is proficient in both Kannada and English, my writing attempts and poetry have been published in major Kannada newspapers. I have been longlisted for Toto Creative Writing in English in 2017 and 2018, and longlisted for Toto Creative Writing in Kannada in 2018, being the only writer nominated in two languages. I have been interviewed by SHEROES, a women empowerment organisation. I have also been interviewed by Sydney Kannada Vani, a radio channel in Sydney, Australia, which has also featured my writing (poems/letters/articles) several times.
