About

Empowering biodiversity conservation and ecological understanding through expert native seed biology and scientific research.

As a Professor in Botany and Director with a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky, my professional journey is deeply rooted in advancing plant science and ecological conservation. My primary mission is to safeguard Sri Lanka's rich biodiversity by generating critical scientific knowledge and fostering environmental awareness among students and the wider community.

My core research focuses on the intricate seed biology of ecologically important native species, uncovering how plant populations regenerate and survive in changing environments. Beyond academia, I am passionate about science communication, bridging the gap between rigorous scientific research and public engagement to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. Whether collaborating on ecological research or mentoring students, I am dedicated to driving meaningful, science-backed impacts for our natural world.
