Create Hugo Theme from Figma Design

We are looking for an experienced Hugo developer to convert a detailed Figma design into a fully functional, clean, and maintainable custom Hugo theme. The final deliverable must precisely follow the provided design system, support modular content, and implement a specific scrolling animation demonstrated in an example we will provide.
This project is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent front-end craftsmanship, and experience building performant static sites.

Responsibilities
Develop a Hugo theme from scratch based on the supplied Figma design.
Implement all layouts, components, and interactive elements as specified.
Reproduce and integrate the provided scrolling animation example, ensuring smooth performance across devices.
Ensure pixel-perfect alignment with the Figma design system and style guide.
Create reusable partials, components, and taxonomies as needed.
Set up flexible content structures (front matter, archetypes, shortcodes).
Optimize for speed and SEO using best practices.
Ensure responsive behavior across devices and browsers.
Provide build instructions and documentation for future maintenance.

Requirements
Proven experience building Hugo sites and custom themes.
Strong HTML, SCSS/CSS, and TailwindCSS (if used) skills.
Proficiency in Vanilla JS or a lightweight JS library for handling the scrolling animation.
Ability to implement responsive layouts with attention to detail.
Experience working with Hugo taxonomies, content types, templating, and Hugo Pipes.
Clean, maintainable coding practices and familiarity with Git.
Strong communication skills and reliability.

Nice to Have
Experience with animation libraries (e.g., GSAP, Locomotive Scroll, ScrollTrigger).
Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG).
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for static hosting (Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages).
Ability to suggest improvements in UI/UX if needed.

Project Constraints & Expectations
The theme must match the Figma design 1:1, including precise typography, spacing, and components.
The scrolling animation example must be faithfully implemented and optimized for performance.
All assets must be extracted and optimized for production.
Code must be modular, commented, and easy to maintain.
No external CMS or heavy JS frameworks — Hugo only.
Deliverables include the complete Hugo theme folder + documentation.
