Seeking Developer to Build Camera + Audio Sensor Prototype for Kickstarter HealthTech Project

I’m developing a discreet, sensor-based hardware system that will be launched via a Kickstarter campaign. This post is for the prototype development phase only, focused specifically on the embedded hardware. The application and reporting dashboard are part of the overall vision but will be tackled in a separate phase during the Kickstarter rollout.

This project involves building two interlinked modules:


Camera Module (Local Controller + Data Hub)

This module acts as the smart node for local sensing and event transmission. It will include:

  • Facial Recognition to identify the primary user

    • Local/edge-based processing only—no image/video storage

  • Presence & Activity Detection to trigger audio event capture

  • Timestamping of events for synchronized sensor logging

  • Data Aggregation from a separate audio sensing module

  • Encrypted Transmission of event data (user ID, timing, metadata) to a backend server

  • Prototype Hardware: Raspberry Pi 5 (or equivalent SBC)

  • Camera: Small-form HD camera with facial recognition capability

  • Wireless Connectivity: Wi-Fi or BLE

  • Form Factor Goal: Flush-mounted, ≤1 inch diameter

  • Power: USB-C or battery-powered


 Recorder Module (Triggered Acoustic Sensor)

This secondary module captures short bursts of acoustic or vibration data only when triggered by the camera system.

  • Triggered Recording (trigger via GPIO, serial command, or wireless)

  • Data Capture Window: 5–30 seconds per event

  • Microphone Type Options:

    • Contact microphone (for vibration sensing)

    • Environmental microphone (for airborne sound)

  • Data Output: Time-aligned transmission to the camera module

  • Secure Data Handling: Encrypted transmission; optional blockchain-based event auditing

  • Power-Efficient: Low-power standby mode until triggered

  • Environment-Ready: Designed for use in humid indoor settings


Data Privacy and Security

  • AES-256 (or similar) end-to-end encryption is required

  • Developer should be familiar with secure local processing and transmission standards

  • No raw images, sound files, or sensitive data will be stored long term on the device

Please note:A mobile application and cloud-based reporting dashboard will be developed after the Kickstarter campaign launches. While not part of this deliverable, familiarity with embedded-to-cloud data pipelines and frontend/backend development will be a plus for ongoing collaboration.


 Project Summary

This is a prototype build of a privacy-forward, sensor-enabled device designed for discreet health monitoring (details withheld intentionally). Your work will be used for demonstration, early feedback, and preparation for crowdfunding and scaling.
