Beware of misuse! Cause of facial paralysis

Internal medicine specialist and associate doctor Emin Gemciolu of Ankara Etlik City Hospital stated that incorrect air conditioner use may result in some health issues.

Assoc. Dr. Gemiciolu stated, "There is a circumstance among the individuals that we call an air conditioner crash. People who suffer from headaches, neck discomfort, generalized muscular pain, joint pain, or fever are more likely to experience this. Here, air conditioners are being used inappropriately. Muscle pains, particularly in the muscles due to a sudden heat shift, happen as a result of the air conditioner supplying direct air flow to the body and rapidly dropping the temperature. In addition, improper use of air conditioners reduces the amount of humidity in the air. Our upper respiratory tract becomes dry as the relative humidity drops. Similarly, failing to perform routine maintenance on air conditioners

"ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY MAY BE REQUIRED."

Assoc. Dr. Gemiciolu noted that there is no specific diagnostic procedure for air conditioner shock but added, "When we evaluate the patients, if we do not think of a specific viral or bacterial infection and if the patients have had recent contact with an air conditioner, we can consider the diagnosis of air conditioner shock. Additionally, airflow from the air conditioner directed directly at the face and body might result in upper respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis and pharyngitis. Although it is currently extremely rare, there is a condition known as Legionnaires' illness. When we live as a community, when big air conditioners are used and air conditioners aren't constantly maintained, this is a rare occurrence. With a high fever, cough, shortness of breath, disorientation, and headache, the patient is shivering. When we see an image like this, which is a severe picture, we might think about this disease. With the patient's permission, we can obtain the blood, urine, and chest X-ray tests we need to make this diagnosis. Additionally, the patient has to receive antibiotic medication. Because a bacterial infection is the cause. When experiencing these symptoms, patients should unquestionably see a doctor, he added.

"AMBIENT TEMPERATURE MUST BE 23 TO 24 DEGREES."

According to Assoc. Dr. Gemiciolu, some people may have facial paralysis as a result of abrupt temperature fluctuations if cold air comes into contact with their face. However, this paralysis is typically only momentary. However, it can be extremely uncomfortable for certain people. First of all, the surrounding air should be between 23 and 24 degrees with regard to the indoor setting. When there is a temperature difference of more than 10 degrees between indoors and outside, this discomfort may develop. Particularly since they are more prone to upper respiratory tract infections, people with chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer can come to us with these infections.
