Dead fin whale removed from Bridlington

$30/hr Starting at $25

The council described the removal of a 30-ton fin whale carcass from Bridlington's South Beach as the "largest of its kind" it had ever done.

The 55-foot (17-meter)-tall animal ran into problems and passed away on Tuesday.

The "incredibly challenging and difficult operation" to remove it, according to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, was finished late on Friday.

"All parties concerned found this to be a really sad situation," the official stated.

People are said to have traveled far distances to see the carcass of the enormous beast, which has turned into a gruesome tourist attraction.

Despite previous worries that the whale's body might need to be cut up to permit removal, council contractors were able to move it in one piece.

The monster was fastened down and driven away after being placed on a truck, the council official claimed.
