ENG to PTBR Game Localization

$18/hr Starting at $25

Description

  • UI Localization
  • Dialogue Translation
  • RPG
  • Steam Games
  • Mobile Games
  • LQA Support
  • Terminology Management

Game: Celeste Classic

Genre: 2D Platformer (PICO-8)

Language Pair: English → Brazilian Portuguese

Objective

• To develop a localized version of the game interface with a focus on:

• Natural flow for Brazilian players

• Terminological consistency

• Preservation of the original style

Challenges

• Limited interface space

• Retro aesthetic (PICO-8)

• Short and direct UI strings

Localization Notes

I opted for “Reiniciar” instead of the loanword “Resetar” to ensure consistency with standard

Brazilian Portuguese gaming terminology and platform-specific guidelines.

“Cartuchos” (“Cartridges”) was intentionally retained to preserve the retro PICO-8 aesthetic.

The font used for the “SOUND ON” and “SOUND OFF” interface elements was Press Start 2P, a

typeface strongly associated in Brazil with pixel-art games.

Sentence structures were adapted to improve fluency and readability in Brazilian Portuguese.
