John Wick 5 is coming, according to the creators.
The Lionsgate film studio has put an end to the debate over whether the John Wick franchise will continue. At his meeting with investors on Thursday, Lionsgate Cinema Group President Joe Drake announced that production on John Wick 5 has started.
Drake said that aside from the fifth film, "We are building a world" regarding the John Wick universe. He also mentioned that work is still being done on the spin-off Ballerina and the television series The Continental. The Lionsgate executive also announced that a video game set in the John Wick universe is being developed.
A sequel would be challenging because John Wick's (Keanu Reeves) funeral occurs at the conclusion of John Wick 4. But Wick's dead body is never shown to the viewer. It is believed that by making use of this space's openness, the fifth movie's script may be written.
On the podcast he attended on March 31, the series' director, Chad Stahelski, again declared that his doors were open to the new film: "It's incredibly flattering when the crowd says, 'We want more.' The goal is not to make money. It makes sense that viewers would desire more. Let's see what comes next; he needs some time to explain.
The events of John Wick 3 and 4 are interspersed with those of the first John Wick spinoff. On June 7, 2024, the film, in which Ana de Armas will star, is expected to hit theaters. Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell are among the cast members of the 1970s-set film The Continental. In September 2023, the show is expected to premiere.
