The North Korean leader blasted the negligence and laziness of officials, accusing them of worsening the coronavirus epidemic in the country, reported the official media.

At the meeting Tuesday, Kim Jong-un promised to "awaken the entire Party like an active volcano" to counter the spread of the virus.

                                       

Since the country announced its first case of Covid-19 last Thursday, the leader has taken personal charge of the fight against the epidemic, which he said is causing "great upheaval" in the country. Among other things, he has ordered a nationwide lockdown, as his population is unvaccinated, and has deployed the military to help fight the coronavirus .
