About

I aim to deliver professional translations on time

After graduating from university, I worked at a publishing house where I initially updated the yearbook International Who's Who (adding politicians, business people, writers and pop stars who had been omitted), before working on an international yearbook on politics and economics. I was given a number of countries to write about, including the Soviet Union. Naturally at the time (the late 1980s) a great deal was changing, so I had to constantly update the text!
During a trip to Russia in 1990 I met a Russian artist after buying a work of art. We stayed in touch. He asked me to help him set up an exhibition, which led me to take a job a Russian news agency in Moscow, which is when I really learned Russian. I subsequently sponsored a couple of Russian and Kazakh artists - in exchange I picked up a number of art works hanging at home!
I subsequently worked at an accounting and advisory firm for a number of years, returning to the UK in order to run a telecoms title for Euromoney Institutional Investor. I then went back to Russia, as I had met someone, who would subsequently become my wife!
Returning to the UK in 2007, I decided to go freelance as a Russian-English translator in 2008.
As well as translating and editing, I also wrote a daily review of the Russian business press for one client for a number of years.
I am now looking to expand my business and hope to find new clients through Guru!

Work Terms

I am ready to work round-the-clock if necessary. I usually am available from 6am to midnight Monday-Friday and later at the weekends.
Regarding payment terms, I prefer to have funds sent to an account in the UK or else a cheque. I am ready to issue invoices at the end of the month for payment at the end of the subsequent month. This just makes it easier for me both financially and for accounting purposes.
