As a young child, I had a fascination with new homes being built in my neighborhood and would sneak into them just to see what they looked like inside. Buildings captivated my attention to a point of sometimes running into a lamp post or tripping. At that point I knew I wanted to be an architect, although my parents had "other plans" for my college education.

Years later, after I raised my family, I returned to college to achieve my original career choice step-by-step and completed my first step - community college, in CAD Drafting and Design, specializing in architecture.

I let go of ten years in real estate to go to school full time and staying afloat with commissioned artwork. Although I moved across the country, I still sketch for clients I had on the east coast.

I have since worked for a small construction company drawing floor plans, building furniture families, and rendering in Revit; a couple of architects and firms working on commercial, multifamily, and hospitality projects. I have experience in design layouts for room additions, stair/elevator placement, and ADA-compliant restrooms to name a few. I have worked on shop drawings for container buildings too.

I love offering my talents and skills in artwork and drafting. I am passionate about finding solutions to drafting design and creating custom families needed for particular projects.

As a freelancer and business owner, time management skills, self-motivation, and creative thinking skills are key to producing work that meets or exceeds the expectations of my clients. Communication is essential to effectively meet then needs of my clients. Confidentiality is highly important on most of my projects, especially when ultimately, the final product belongs to the client.

My artwork is very detailed and that eye for detail is particularly necessary when producing construction or shop drawings.

On a more personal level, I am a creative. I enjoy baking custom cakes, drawing, and playing my keyboards.

Work Terms

I prefer to remain flexible regarding hours so I have not set a "work" schedule. Since I have worked with clients in many different time zones, I am mindful to their local time which could be vastly different than mine.

As part of my due-diligence when starting new floor plans, I research local codes for the intended site to insure that my designs, or others will meet the codes for permitting.

I believe that communicating questions and expectations up front will allow for a more seamless result. I typically will ask for any specifics in finishes, fixtures, needs and wants before I begin drafting. Throughout projects, I will provide updates including PDF's of project progress, when a benchmark has been met, and final drafts before the actual project file is delivered. I expect changes during the project, and I will continue to work with my clients until I have delivered a design or drafting project the meets or exceeds their expectations.

I believe changes or criticisms are opportunity for further growth and welcome them.

My work history includes most recently, freelance drafting and design. This was in response to the original COVID protocols and works very well for me.

I have worked in architectural firms collaborating on a variety of different projects including residential, commercial, hospitality, medical, and industrial plans. As part of my experience, I became quite familiar with working on construction documents for permitting. I prefer drafting in Autodesk Revit however, I have past experience in AutoCAD, especially when exporting and importing drawings.
