Kara brings a variety of skills and a unique background to her work. With a background in journalism, she has worked professionally as a copy editor and multimedia designer for two Nebraska newspaper publications on both the editorial and marketing sides. Her contributions have led to multiple awards from the Nebraska Press Association, and her skills building and managing websites have helped open new streams of advertising revenue.
Additionally, Kara lived in South Korea for two years and worked with an English-Korean bilingual online magazine focusing on entertainment and culture in Ulsan, Busan and Daegu. During this time, she covered many bases as a copy editor, website designer and graphic designer, creating everything from social media banners to event posters, from T-shirts and other merchandise to a 24-page print magazine. She was part of the team who won The Korea Observer’s 2014 K-Blog Awards for Best Online Magazine and Best Music Blog, complete with an awards ceremony in Seoul. ???!
Kara has always been naturally motivated to work with media in all formats, and her expertise consists of perfecting even the smallest details in order to create a professional and polished final product. She has a gift for consistency in writing and design, as well as an eye for good typography and an inclination to browse her personal copies of the AP Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style.
Kara earned her B.A. in journalism with an emphasis on mass media and a minor in visual communication and design from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She also has over eight years of solid experience as a five-star freelancer and independent contractor. Work Terms
Available work hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. MST, Monday through Friday. Depending on the length and scope of contracts, please prepare to pay a deposit for services to begin and the remaining total to be paid upon successful completion of the project.
