I am a retired electrical engineer with 30 years of experience in the energy, commercial and medical fields that still enjoys working projects and would love to help you design something new, revise something old or solve some pesky perfromance, compliance for safety problem.
Services provided include:
1. System Architecture - Analyze NPDs to provide robut architecutes including subsystems, compoenents, interface as well as performance, feasibility and manufacturing profiles. Tools incorporated include Visio, Matlab, Simulink.
2. Analog/Digital/Mixed Circuit Design - Sensors, actuators, motor drives, communication, microcontrollers/processors/DSP and FPGA. Tools include Altium Designer, Allegro and MentorGraphics for schematic capture and Altium/LT Spice/HyperLynx/Comsol for simulation.
3. PCB Layout - Sensitive analog processing to high-speed digital for rigid/flex/rigid-flex and HDI designs. 2 to 40 layers for the design of reliable, robust performance optimized for power and signal integrity and EMC. Tools include Altium Designr, Allergro, MentorGraphics.
4. Embedded Control - Microcontrollers, processors, DSP, FPGA, SoC and multicore device system design and debugging. Tools include Eclipse, Github, Vivado, Quartus Prime using devices from TI, Microchip, Intersil, NXP, Broadcom, ST, AMD, Intel.
5. WIreless and IoT - Design of RF communication links and Iot systems including Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Ceullar as well as various short range ISM transceiver systems.
6. Wired Communications - Data transfer subsystems including USB, Ethernet, SPI/QSPI, I2C, CanBUS, UART, MIPI.
7. User Interfaces - Panels, membrane panels, touchscreens and gesture sensing using OLED, LCD, TFT displays and flex circuit designs.
8. Embedded Programming - Programming of controller systesms including bare-metal, HALs, RTOS and multicore designs incorporating C/C++, Linux, Python, Adroid.
9. Troubleshooting - Root cause analysis to determine the source of circuit perfromance problems, EMC and ESD, reliabiltiy issues and firmware bugs. This includes simulation using Altium, LT Spice and 3D solvers, Vivado, Matlab and Simulink as well as bench testing using oscilloscope, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, function generators and DMM.
Work Terms
Both hourly rate of $50 USD/hr and flat fee project total based on proect and client needs.
