Web, Software and Mobile App Development
During the course of studying my theoretical physics degree, I decided towards the end that a much better route in life would be to head into the world of computer programming. With this in mind, around my studies I spent every evening of my final year teaching myself the C# programming language, and it's from this basis that my career as a programmer began.
I currently work at a software and web development company in China, at Tianfu Software Park in Chengdu, in an office where Chinese is the primary language of communication (yes I can speak Chinese!). The majority of the work here is geared towards creating web applications for dealing with employer, customer and resource management for large entities. Personally I have helped on projects for a school, a large bank, a government aviation equipment testing facility, and a mobile application for small enterprises to track their energy efficiency. The clients are varied but the fundamentals tend to be the same: Database management, back-end logic for database operations, and front-end logic for presenting data to the user via a web-based interface. The coding languages involved are C#, HTML, CSS and Javascript, with various nifty extras thrown in such as LINQ, AJAX and jQuery.
A personal interest of mine is mobile app development, which has led to the recent completion of my first major project using Xamarin.Forms, a cross-platform system which allows the creation of apps that can be used on all systems (Android, iOS and Windows Phone). It was my first time working under the direction of a client, dealing with design and functionality requirements as they arose. The project was completed successfully and is now available on the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.companyname.QuizMe123).
In my free time I mainly enjoy travel, discovery, adventure and learning new things. On days at home, I just continue programming for fun.
Work Terms
Hours of Operation: Whatever suits you. This can be discussed before beginning the project.
Payment Terms: For a small project (~$500), 50% at the start and 50% upon completion. For larger projects, 30% at the start, 40% at a reasonable mid-point, then the final 30% upon completion. Paypal preferred.
