This isn’t just my job, it’s my passion. I’ve seen published works that are full of errors, works that don’t inflame my imagination or evoke emotions, and that makes me angry.
My name is Victoria Cash, I am a proofreader, copy editor and writer specialising in English language.
I have been writing professionally for eight years, but I actually started writing as a hobby about eighteen years ago.I currently have four novels published and have had numerous critique pieces published in the local newspaper. I am a member of the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) and have completed a four year creative writing course with The Writers Bureau.I have also completed multiple career development courses with Future Learn by the Open University, including Community Journalism, Online Business: Digital Marketing for Success and the Business of Film. More recently, I passed the Creative Writing and Research summer university course with Teesside University.
With the intention of setting up in business,In the last year I have gained extensive experience in proofreading and editing by voluntarily completing unpaid work such as proofreading and editing press releases, fan fiction and short stories. One example of this is for the last I have been responsible for sometimes writing, but usually editing and proofreading press releases for a local museum where I currently volunteer some of my time.
I enrolled myself on a competence course in proofreading and copy editing with Chapterhouse Publishing, which I passed. The course gave me further hands on experience proofreading and editing documents of varying length, style and genre.
I am also a member of the Society for Editors ad Proofreaders (SfEP).
