Seeking an Experienced BuddyBoss/BuddyPress Developer for Custom Assessment Feature
An online community is seeking an experienced BuddyBoss/BuddyPress developer to design and implement a robust custom assessment feature using the BuddyBoss API. The ideal candidate has deep WordPress and BuddyBoss experience and can translate complex conditional logic into a smooth, user-friendly assessment and reporting workflow.
Responsibilities
1. Architect and build a custom assessment system integrated into an existing BuddyBoss/BuddyPress community.
2. Leverage the BuddyBoss API to create, store, and manage user assessment data tied to member profiles.
3. Implement conditional logic (branching questions, dynamic paths, and scoring) based on previous responses.
4. Develop an admin interface to configure questions, logic, scoring, result categories, and messaging.
5. Create meaningful reporting and dashboards for both admins and individual users, including:
- Individual assessment reports and summaries
- Aggregated/segment-based reports (e.g., by group, interest, or cohort)
6. Ensure data protection and privacy controls for all stored assessment results, including role-based access and user consent options.
7. Optimize performance and UX so assessments load quickly and work well on desktop and mobile.
8. Test, debug, and document the feature for future maintenance and enhancements.
Required Skills & Experience
1. Proven experience with BuddyBoss Platform/Pro and BuddyPress, including custom development and integrations.
2. Strong WordPress development background (PHP, custom plugins, hooks/filters, custom post types, and taxonomies).
3. Experience using and extending REST APIs, ideally including the BuddyBoss/WordPress REST API.
4. Solid front-end skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery); experience with modern JS and React is a plus.
5. Demonstrated work on conditional logic forms, quizzes, assessments, or similar dynamic workflows.
6. Experience creating custom reporting interfaces or dashboards from user data.
7. Familiarity with data privacy best practices and secure handling of user assessment results.
8. Strong communication skills, ability to ask clarifying questions, and comfort working collaboratively and iteratively.
Nice-to-Have
1. Experience with LMS/membership platforms (e.g., LearnDash, MemberPress) integrated with BuddyBoss.
2. Background in UX/UI for complex forms and multi-step assessments.
3. Experience with large communities and performance optimization for high user volume.
