Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced STEM / Biochemistry / Life Sciences Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 10+ years of professional experience to support an advanced research and engineering initiative.
The SME will provide deep scientific and life sciences expertise, evaluate research outputs, review complex scientific information, and collaborate with multidisciplinary research and engineering teams.
Location: Mountain View, CA / Silicon Valley
Work Arrangement: Onsite 2 days per week
Engagement Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Duration: 6 months
Weekly Commitment: 35 hours/week
Rate: USD $90–$120/hour

Key Responsibilities
Partner with research and engineering teams to provide scientific and life sciences expertise.
Evaluate research outputs for scientific accuracy, relevance, and quality.
Review and interpret complex scientific and technical information.
Review and synthesize information from scientific literature, research publications, and technical sources.
Provide expert insights on complex scientific and research questions.
Identify inaccuracies, gaps, assumptions, and potential improvements in research outputs.
Support the development and refinement of research methodologies.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Document scientific findings, assumptions, and recommendations clearly.
Stay current with developments in biochemistry, biotechnology, life sciences, and related STEM fields.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related STEM discipline.
10+ years of professional experience in relevant scientific or life sciences fields.
Strong analytical, scientific reasoning, and critical-thinking skills.
Experience reviewing and interpreting complex scientific information.
Strong research and information-synthesis capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with research and engineering teams.
Must be able to work onsite in Mountain View, CA 2 days per week.
Preferred Background
Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, or other relevant Life Sciences/STEM disciplines.
AI/ML experience is not mandatory.
