Automated Pneumatic Pick-and-Place Robotic Arm for Injection Molding Production Lines
Designed and developed an industrial automated pneumatic robotic arm for injection molding production lines to automate product handling and labeling operations. The system was engineered to safely extract finished plastic parts from the injection molding machine immediately after the molding cycle and automatically apply product branding stickers before transferring the finished items to the next production stage.
The solution integrates PLC-based control logic, pneumatic actuators, electro-pneumatic valves, position sensors, and industrial safety mechanisms to achieve reliable and repeatable operation in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The robotic arm executes synchronized pick-and-place sequences based on machine status signals and production cycle timing.
Advanced motion control techniques were implemented to optimize arm movement, actuator response time, and cycle efficiency. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control was utilized for regulating actuator speed and valve response characteristics where applicable, enabling smoother motion profiles and reducing mechanical stress on the system. Digital and analog I/O modules were used for sensor feedback, end-stop detection, vacuum gripping control, and process synchronization.
