Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. In the narrowest understanding of the term, VoIP is voice over IP only -- a subset of IP telephony that does not include other, non-voice-based communication services, such as faxing or text messaging.
