Senior Product Manager (7+ yrs, NBFC/fintech) — turning leaky onboarding funnels into shipped, compliant products: journey redesign, PRDs, roadmaps, business cases.
I'm a Senior Product Manager with 7+ years of experience leading digital transformation in NBFC and financial services, and an alumnus of NIT. I help lending, payments, and fintech teams turn "why is our funnel leaking" into a shipped, compliant fix — not just a diagnosis deck.
Most of my work comes down to the same problem wearing different clothes: a financial product built for an assisted, branch-led world, now being asked to work as a self-serve digital one — without losing the trust and risk discipline financial services can't compromise on. My most recent case study walks through exactly this: redesigning an NBFC's personal-loan onboarding from a 14-minute, 5-step process into a sub-5-minute, consent-first journey, projected to lift application-to-disbursal conversion by 9-12 percentage points.
How I run engagements:
Root-cause first. I use 5-Whys and jobs-to-be-done thinking before touching a roadmap, and check that framing against how users actually describe the problem — not the version easiest to build a feature around.
A sized business case. TAM/SAM/SOM and RICE-scored backlogs that hold up when leadership asks "why this, why now" — not just a prioritized Jira board.
Requirements that survive contact with reality. PRDs and acceptance criteria written so engineering, credit risk, and compliance can all sign off without a second round of edits.
Journey diagnosis under real constraints. Funnel and UX work for regulated products — RBI digital lending guidelines, DPDP Act consent, audit trails — where "just remove a step" isn't always an option.
Full-cycle output. Personas, journey maps, competitor benchmarking, a flagship PRD, wireframes, a 12-month roadmap, a North Star metric with a KPI tree, and an honest risk register — the same artifacts I'd hand a real engineering and credit-risk team.
Where I add the most value:
End-to-end product strategy and roadmapping for lending, payments, and digital onboarding
PRDs and requirements that hold up under engineering, risk, and compliance scrutiny
Journey redesign and funnel diagnosis for financial products under regulatory constraints
Market sizing and business cases to justify investment to leadership or investors
Fractional or project-based PM work for fintech and NBFC teams needing senior judgment without a full-time hire
I'm not chasing feature-factory work. I'm most useful where the "obvious" fix (bigger discount, extra step, more support agents) is masking a structural issue underneath — and getting the root cause right matters more than shipping something fast and wrong.
If your team has a funnel that leaks between intent and conversion, an underwriting model that needs an alt-data story, or a PRD that keeps bouncing between engineering and risk, I'd like to hear about it. Open to freelance, fractional, and consulting engagements.

Engagement types
I take on fractional PM retainers, fixed-scope project work (journey audits, PRDs, market-sizing/business cases), and short advisory blocks. Not looking for full-time embedded roles right now.
Availability
Currently open to new engagements. I confirm realistic start dates and weekly capacity before agreeing scope — I'd rather under-promise than overcommit.
How I work
I understand the actual problem before proposing solutions — expect a short discovery conversation even on well-defined briefs.
I work async-first and document as I go (PRDs, decision logs, journey maps), so context isn't trapped in meetings you weren't part of.
I flag scope creep or compliance risk as soon as I see it, rather than absorbing it silently into the timeline.
Weekly or biweekly check-ins by default for ongoing work; async updates in between via your team's tool of choice.
Scope and revisions
Fixed-scope work includes two rounds of revisions on written feedback. Changes beyond the original brief are quoted separately — no surprise invoices.
Communication
Based in India (IST), comfortable with cross-timezone teams, and I keep overlap hours available for US/UK calls. I respond within one business day during an active engagement.
Payment terms
Project work: 50% upfront, 50% on delivery, via Guru's milestone system. Retainers: monthly, in advance. I don't start substantive work before the first milestone is funded.
Confidentiality
Happy to sign an NDA before discovery calls or before receiving proprietary data. Names and figures in my own case studies are anonymized or modeled unless a client approves real details.
What I need to scope accurately
A short problem statement, any existing data you can share, and a sense of your internal stakeholders — so I can tell you honestly whether your timeline and scope are realistic before we commit.
Let's have a short call first — I'd rather spend 20 minutes understanding your problem than quote blind.
