"From UI Design Intern to Lead Engineer: Building Digital Solutions that Matter."
My journey into tech started with a fascination for how design meets functionality. I began my career as a UI/UX Design Intern at Q2 Solutions (PVT) Ltd, where I learned the critical importance of user-centered thinking. As I grew, so did my technical reach; by July 2025, I was promoted to UI Engineer, where I bridged the gap between complex visual design and high-performance code.
In early 2026, I faced a career transition when my role was impacted by a layoff, but I didn't see it as an end. I saw it as an opportunity to build something of my own. I am currently serving as the Co-founder and Lead Mobile/UI Engineer for the Kandy Water Soft digital ecosystem. We are currently building a full management suite, including a manager dashboard, meter billing, and cashier payment systems, which has allowed me to master the end-to-end lifecycle of mobile development.

When I’m not building apps, you’ll likely find me diving into the technical nuances of networking. I’m currently a bit of a hobbyist when it comes to optimizing router performance and signal frequency bands to keep my home network at peak efficiency. I’m also a firm believer in family-driven collaboration; I’m currently working on exciting new projects alongside my brother, blending our skills to solve real-world problems.

Work Terms
To ensure a professional and efficient collaboration, I maintain standard business hours in the Sri Lanka Standard Time zone (GMT+5:30), generally operating between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, though I am flexible with at least 24 hours' notice for scheduling meetings. My preferred communication style centers on transparency and efficiency, utilizing the platform’s built-in messaging system as our primary channel to ensure a clear record of all requirements and feedback. I am available for video calls via Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams for complex discussions and provide regular status updates on a rhythm (such as daily or weekly summaries) tailored to the project's needs, with a commitment to respond to all inquiries within 24 hours during the work week. Regarding payment terms, I utilize a structure designed to reflect the technical value of the work while ensuring security, typically requesting an initial deposit or milestone-based payments for fixed-price projects, such as 30% upfront, 40% upon interim delivery, and 30% upon final completion. For hourly work, I invoice through the platform’s secure system on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and I request that all payments be processed in USD. Should a project require significant deviations from the original scope, I will provide an updated estimate of time and costs for your approval before any additional work proceeds, as I am dedicated to maintaining high-quality service and am open to adjusting these terms to best fit your project's specific requirements.
