Newtech Publishing is a large, established prepress and data conversion services company with 150 staff in editorial, production, training,
and liaison offices in India.
The company was set up in 2015 to capitalize on the growing offshore typesetting market for English-language scientific books and journals.
Of course portfolio has expanded considerably to accommodate and anticipate emerging outsourcing requirements in the industry.
In composition, we provide XML-first and XML-last workflows, with interim and final digital bundles for content aggregators and multiple
reading devices (including paper).
• In editorial, we provide developmental editing and line editing, copyediting, proofreading, and indexing. Some three-quarters of the titles
we work on are full-service project management, and for some clients this extends to managing the manufacturing process.
• In subject matter, our work is (unusually) split almost equally between STM, legal, humanities, and social science publishing.
• In artwork, we offer original conceptual art and picture research alongside more traditional relabeling and redrawing. We have particular
expertise in medical and life sciences artwork.
• In data, we offer large-scale backlist conversion from electronic, print, and microform inputs, together with DTD creation, CMS management,
and mobile and tablet app development.
• Across markets, we produce academic, trade, and professional books, educational books and ancillaries, reference works, journals,
magazines, and technical documentation. We also curate and create content for newsletters and portal websites.
• Linguistically, we work on material in 40 European and Asian languages.
• Technologically, we have a strong focus on intelligent automation across the business, and our group company GPSL provides software
solutions for complex in-house publishing tasks.

Work Terms
Work term duration
Co-op work terms consist of:
Full-time, paid work experience
Typically 35-40 hours per week
14-16 week total duration
A minimum of 490 total work hours
24/7 working time
Each work term is recorded as a co-op course on the student's transcript and assigned a grade of Pass or Fail on completion. Work terms will not be applied towards graduation requirements for any degree or program, and do not replace academic courses.
Undergraduate students must successfully complete three work terms to receive Co-operative Education degree designation upon graduation. Graduation must occur following an academic semester.
