I'm a web developer looking for a job with a business in the valley. I watched my father start his own business developing software that helped customers analyze government contracts, and then how he sold it to Bloomberg. This taught me how the data computers generate can stimulate millions of dollars in business, giving me over two decades of exposure to computer-related entrepreneurship. I’ve also been interested in visual art and music from an early age as well as anthropology throughout my academic career. My goal is to combine my scientific knowledge of computers and anthropology with my creative knowledge of visual art and music to fulfill a lifelong career in web development and related services.
I began learning code in 5th grade via online forums/website tuts to create programs to automate RPG characters. This led to moderating forums/websites giving me experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript. Shortly after, I latched onto the dream of creating a profitable website, experimenting with various ideas in my free time. I then began honing my coding skills through an intro to programming at the University of Vermont as well as specific courses from code academy, among other educational resources.
My BA in anthropology applies well to web development because it provides an understanding of how to gather data and observations on people from all sorts of cultures and backgrounds, and how to apply this to specific purposes such as business, marketing, or UX. My BA led directly to a certificate for an internship for web design at the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage where I helped maintain three of their websites via HTML, CSS, PHP, JS, MySQL, and Adobe Suite.
With a scientific background in coding and anthropology combined with a creative background in art and music, I feel I would be a strong addition to your team, so I hope to hear from you soon!
