Scope and Customization
Articul's qualitative research practice covers the full range of methods used to gather, structure, and interpret non-numerical data. Each engagement is designed from scratch based on the research question, the nature of the phenomenon under investigation, and the organizational context in which findings will be applied.
Study Design and Instrument Development
Work begins with study design: defining what needs to be understood, identifying the appropriate units of inquiry, and selecting the method of data collection. Instruments are purpose-built for each engagement, including structured and semi-structured interview guides, focus group protocols, and observational frameworks. Where measurement of latent constructs is required, such as attitudes, behavioral tendencies, or organizational culture, we develop and validate custom measures using psychometric principles and measure development methodology.
Analytical Methods
Analysis applies systematic interpretation frameworks to surface patterns, categories, and relationships within the data. Methods include thematic analysis, content analysis, and framework analysis. Where appropriate, qualitative findings are translated into structured variables that interface directly with quantitative models, enabling mixed-methods integration within a single engagement.
Output Types and Integration
Deliverables are adapted to the purpose of the engagement: research reports, structured coding frameworks, validated scales, interview guides, and insight summaries formatted for decision-relevant use. Where qualitative and quantitative workstreams run in parallel, findings are integrated into a unified analytical output rather than delivered as separate streams.
