An 18.83-inch pet from Michigan has been named the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest living domestic cat.

The cat "Fenrir", a Savannah cat belonging to William John Powers of Farmington Hills, was awarded the title after the Guinness World Records achieved the impressive height of the cats, according to the US agency "UBI".

The Savannah cat is a hybrid breed resulting from the mating of a domestic cat with an African serval.

Powers said Arcturus, Fenrir's brother, previously held the same title when it was officially measured at 19.05 inches in 2016, but the cats later died in a house fire, and Arcturus still holds the title of tallest domestic cat ever.

Cat owner Bowers told Guinness officials: "For someone so obsessed with their cats that having not one, not two, but four Guinness World Records holding animals at one lifetime is a bit fanciful, isn't it? Something was going to happen, and then, even after our catastrophe, the universe tried to make at least that small part of it true again."
